Steering Rack

A car steering rack is a component of a car’s steering system that converts the rotational motion of the steering wheel into linear motion to turn the wheels of the car.

When the steering wheel is turned, it rotates a pinion gear that meshes with a rack gear, which moves the tie rods that are connected to the wheels, causing the wheels to turn. The power steering system, if equipped, uses hydraulic or electric power to assist the driver in turning the steering wheel.
